Default White Tail Rut

I don't think the Whitetails are going yet. I have seen does all alone ( or are they bread and done ). The bucks seem to be alone as well - not sure. What are you guys seeing?

Caught a buck in game camera - was all alone

Yup.

Last weekend in my area, they weren't really into it yet, but I think this weekend should be good. Too bad its supposed to be a fricken blizzard tomorrow, and the Western final on Sunday. I'm still going to try and squeeze in a few hours Sunday morning.

Excited to head out next week again.
Would see the odd buck but not as many as I would of liked.
With this cold snap and snow it just get things going.

Sat in one area today....saw nine different bucks, two does in 3 hours on same 200 yard stretch of trail.

All but 2 bucks were nose to the ground dogging the trail of those 2 single does....

The does crossed at different spots and those were the ONLY spots the bucks were coming out....game on!

I think the rut is late this year. I am seeing deer all alone too. I would recommend to stay home for another week all.

Ruts pretty dead in the area I'm hunting. Lots of does around and only one group had a buck with them. Lots of bucks still hanging together.

seems everyone forgets that the rut for all of our game animals is dictated by photo period (amount of daylight). They 'rut' is during the exact same period every year. Yes, there is more visible activity if it is cold and snowy as the animals move more. However, the vast majority of does/cows/ewes etc. are bread during the same time frame EVERY year.

Seeing some big mule deer and whitetail bucks on college campus every night in Lethbridge running around. It was pretty entertaining last night seeing a 6x6 whitetail chasing a 4x4 mule deer down the street.

WT bucks no longer go into thr rut. Much like the elk have stopped bugling because of hunting pressure, WT are now breeding mostly in late December. Last year, we had more than one incident in the neighborhood of a WT buck attempting to breed one of Santa's reindeer.

I just left his house. If he's drinking eggnog, it's red and in a wine glass. A big one!
