Default 4 Year Wait Come and Gone (Pic Heavy)

Well guys a 4 year wait has come and gone and it was definitely worth it.

This year Dad and I both got drawn for antlered mule deer. Something I've been looking forward to since I started hunting. This past weekend we went out in hopes of harvesting 2 trophies. We got out Wednesday did some scouting and got ready for the next few days. We went out to an area that had a large coulee that held many deer. We spotted 2 good sized bucks. Thursday morning we went out to that area before light and decided to walk along the coulee. Just after legal light Dad spotted a doe grazing on the side of the coulee and after glassing spotted the 2 good sized bucks. He set up for the shot. We ranged it at about 300 yards. One good shots through the heart from his 30-06 put the buck down. Once we got across the coulee we found that dragging the deer up was going to be some hard work, but with some help from a friend we got it done. We spent the rest of Thursday and all of Friday trying to locate myself a nice buck. Saturday morning came (our last day to hunt) at first light I spotted a young 3x3 on the side of a coulee and passed on him then a bit later found a field of 20 does and 1 decent 4x4. I was debating on taking him but again decided to pass. At this point Dad was getting frustrated with me for passing up both bucks haha. A few hours went by and I was starting to regret not taking the 4x4 that was in the field. I walked along 1 more coulee and a doe jumped out from across, then 30 seconds later another doe jumped out followed by a huge 6x6. I layed down, got my bipod open and got ready for the shot. Again another long shot across the coulee this time at 330 - 350 yards. First shot hit him in the lungs, second shot in the neck and dropped him with my 7mm-08. When we walked up to my buck it was bigger then I originally saw through my scope. I couldn't be any happier!! All in all it was a great weekend and something I'll never forget. Expect a video within a month from now.

good job young man. thats good yours is bigger than the one your pa got. thatll learn him for not letting you shoot first.

of course....i bet the real story is that you thought that was too small and wanted to wait for the big boy.
