Default Alberta Hunting History: Myths/Legends, Stories, and Records

After reading the Big Bear thread, and the old one on that giant mule deer. I figured this might be a cool idea.

Alberta is full of wilderness, great animals, and some tough/crazy people!

Share your wildest stories you've heard and photos from days gone by.

I'd be interested in the one about the dead guy in the Wilmore Rinella talked about briefly on his podcast.

Here's a true story.... I read this accounting of events in a local history book. It was written by the guy that shot the bear..

Back in the early 1900's two buddies went hunting bears in the Crowsnest area. A big grizzly bear was coming at one of the fellows so he raised his gun and when the bear was pretty much right in front of him he shot the bear in the mouth. The bullet stopped the bear on the spot. Unfortunately, the bullet exited the bear skull and hit the fellow's hunting partner killing him too.
