With the warmer than usual temp. we've been having, it has made for some hunting out of the jet boat. I found this guy Tuesday afternoon. Can't hunt Tuesdays. On a lease with foot access only. Closest access by road is 4 miles away. But this buck was 400 yards from the river. So a plan was made. My partner and I were on the river as soon as we could see enough. Right at first light my partner spotted some WT along a big willow patch. I dropped him off and went down stream to push the Bush. But just as I was ready to start walking a shot rang out. My partner got a nice 4x3 before the sun was up. After getting him loaded on the boat we were on our way. Looking for the big one. Not half hour later we found him. Long story short, we ziged and the buck zaged. We missed each other by 100 yards. Day 2 no sightings of the big one. But lots of animals along the river. Day 3 started before legal shooting time with a cool boat ride. 15 minutes after getting to my spot I noticed a deer chasing another one. About a mile away. Getting a good look at them at sun up I could see he was a good one. A stock was made to with in 300 yards. 2 shoots and he was down. Would like to thank my wife for helping to drag the deer back to the boat. A great way to end a memorable season.
That would be a blast....running a river in the south for whiteys isn't something a person thinks of, moose and elk for sure, but this is an awesome adventure. Congrats
