2 Fenix flashlights and spare batterys, Havalon knife, Gerber bone saw, range finder, small spotting scope, 50ish feet of rope, 20rnds of extra ammo, tags, 2 bottles of water, snacks.. Depending on weather I may take some extra clothing... Depending on location I may pack a GPS or compass.

If I'm alone I will just hang any large game from a tree and come back later with an ATV or helper to drag it out, if I'm hunting with someone else then we share the load...

Of course there are exceptions to what everyone packs but if you have what it takes to field dress your animal and fluids and carbs to keep you going plus you know where you are an where you need to be then anything else is a luxury = extra weight to pack.

What do you have in your pack?

I pack:
-Katedyn water purifier saves packing water. I carry one liter at a time.

-small 8 to1 block and tackle can lift anything I would need and rope available
for other purposes if needed.

-Flint and steel or magnesium block and flint.

-First aid and pain killers, space blanket.

-20 ft. 16 ga. wire for rabbit and squirrel snares , in case of
emergency survival and other purposes like
repair or fabrication.

-Dental floss. Good for dental care and doubles as fishing line
or lashing cordage. 100 yards is very compact.
A couple snelled hooks in the floss case.

-Wind up flashlight/radio.

- a roll of red or yellow flagging tape if in unfamiliar teritory.

-a few sealed tubes (1 tablespoon in each) of honey. Excellent energy for a boost.

-A very small packet of garlic and onion powder. Could be a pleasure in a survival situation. Not salt. Makes you thirsty.

-1/2 lb. dry jerky at all times. Maybe a sandwich for a snack.

-knife and stone.

-harmonica for entertainment.

-extra socks and river rubber sole socks. (the river socks are easy on the feet if you have to cross creeks or rivers. saves your shoes and feet.)

***And the most important item...toilet paper.

Extra gloves and touque in winter.

Whole pack weighs less than 5 pounds.

I will add things depending where I am going.
This pack is my shadow when I go to the woods. Never been in a situation but am confident this would suffice for a few days if needed. I pack this daypack for year round use and wear in faithfully even if I am only going in the woods to check my trailcams for a half hour. If I go fishing in the summer and have to walk in. Mushroom picking in spring and summer. You never know when you may have a crisis of some kind. 300 yards in the bush with a broken ankle might as well be 10 miles in.

Depends where I'm hunting....

Deer elk and moose just around home-
Two lighters, small first aid kit, havlon and blades, extra sleeve of ammo, tags, 50ft bale twine, buck saw and knife, fenix flashlight and windup light, bottle of water and a couple granola bars or eatmores, TP!!!!, and any calls I may need.

Sheep/mountain hunts-

The above fanny pack goes into my backpack with added ammo, upgraded first aid kit, spotting scope, tri pod, digital camera, some parachute cord, more snacks, coffe cup, socks, rain cover of sorts(usually garbage bags that double as game bags), and a space blanket.

I always pack binos on a harness. Still workin on my "cat pack".

Tags and licenses, binos, range finder, rifle and perhaps 5 or 6 rounds ammo, toilet paper, knife, small folding saw, fire starting kit, small first aid kit, cell phone or SPOT (depending on coverage), calls and rattle bag, maybe 10 feet of webbing for dragging, butt-out and some cord, plastic field dressing gloves. Bearspray if I'm in grizz country with dense bush. Can carry it all in pockets and a mid-sized fanny pack.

WOW!

I honestly can't believe that half of the guys who have responded so far don't carry a first aid kit of some sort!

At MINIMUM one should have some large finger bandages and a compress (large guase pad with an attached tensor bandage).
