The last time oil was this low we were paying around 34 cents for a liter of gas and 28 for a liter of diesel.

And yet many still can't afford gas because they are now jobless.

I and others warned you, cheap gas = bad news in AB... I wish it was still 1.30 a liter...

No, Cheap Oil is bad for Alberta. They could put gas @ $2 a liter and jobs would not come back

Why should people stop 'living in the past"?

You think it is better today with the country nearly a trillion in debt, unemployment up, $50,000 for a half ton.a dn 400grand for a 40 year old house?

As a comparison, paid $1.95 US gal in Butte Mo. on Dec 28th.

Today the price went down to $2.69 US gal in Southern Calif.

36 Bud/Coors $ 22.99 at the grocery store.

Golf 9 holes with a cart at twilight (2:00 pm) $16.00 rack rate $96.00.

And for some unfathomable reason people don't get that oil price =/= gas price...

Gas price = oil price + refine price + transportation price + distribution price

I will give you a hint, 3 of those went up since 1970...

I can't find a Canadian source but in the US with gas around 2 dollars a gallon now it is actually close to the cheapest it has ever been if you take inflation into account... Here in Canada it is probably about the same I would guess.

Aren't smartphones made from petroleum products? How come no one complains that their iPhone isn't a third of the price from a year ago?

This is the problem, people assuming that's the proper price to pay with the current oil price... Wake up... We are being ripped off..
Current oil prices should work out to about 58 cents/litre or a tad less..
