Default Calgary Fireworks

Just moved to Calgary and I was wondering where would you guide me to see the fireworks this year? I have some friends coming up and we would like to see the fireworks ...

I am pretty sure they are doing the fireworks there. Or at Olympic plaza.

I don't think the city is having any sort of official fireworks this year, at least I thought I just heard that on the morning news. I think the only fireworks you'll find are at the zoo.

According to the news this morning, the only place doing fireworks for New Year's eve is the zoo at around 8pm.

Shooting off fireworks at midnight would actually break the city noise bylaw... They would have to ticket themselves....

From the Calgary Sun:

Quote:
The city’s big New Year’s bash occurs once again at Olympic Plaza starting at 10 p.m. with music and fireworks leading up to a countdown at midnight.

The Calgary Zoo is also offering a family extravaganza with Zoo Year’s Eve that goes from 6 to 9 p.m. featuring its traditional holiday lights extravaganza, fire pits, hot chocolate, fireworks and kids’ activities.

Ok I talked with the Sun and they didn't seem to really know other than to say " Well I know for sure that there is a party at the Olympic Plaza . "
The tone in his voice ( in my opinion ) Duh , I just assumed that if there is a party , there would be fireworks . Suggested that he should find out for sure , as tomorrow there could be a number of non-happy people that were expecting fireworks on the Sun's say so. On the other hand , I think that there will be upset people anyways as this has been tradition at the Olympic Plaza since it stared back at the " 88 Calgary Winter Olympics "

If you live in Lake Sundance or know someone you can watch the 9 pm display from beach in front of the lodge or from the parking lot.

Maybe other private displays around.
