Default Old Brass To use or not to use?

Thought I would reload for my .270 Win. Neighbor gave me his old brass. It was tarnished quite bad and some of it was even pitted. Ran it through my vibrating tumbler.
It didn't come out very good. You can still see small pink spots the size of a needle.
If its tarnished like that on the outside, I assume inside is worse.
Would tumbling with stainless steel pins (wet) remove the corrosion, or just go buy new brass?
Some of the brass looks ok, but still quite old.
Thanks again.

Pink spots are from the zinc in the brass. Basically it means the brass was exposed to an acid of some kind and has tarnished. You may be able to remove it, but i would be cautious if you are already noticing pitting.

I would go buy new brass anyway and its's cheap peace of mind for the $40-$50 it costs.

Another vote for toss and get some new stuff. $80/100 is still the cheapest part of shooting. If you are going to use once fired brass, no problem, FL size it first, but get some that is in good shape to start with.

Had a beauty of a Schultz & Larsen 7x61 S&H. Came with old brass. I cleaned and checked the brass very carefully, couldn’t find any flaws. About the 4th shot with lower pressure test loads, the case ruptured laterally, split the stock in 2 pieces. Never will I use old brass, and I only use fired cases from trusted people. Like Dean said, brass is cheap.
