Default What would you do?

Hunting season is upon us...and I'm about to take off for 3 weeks. Bull moose and elk draws. Lucky real lucky this year.
Being married, happy wife is a happy life. Her only condition was we need to go camping before you go.

We went out to a remote area I hunted a few years back. Set up camp and enjoy a few quiet days.
Sitting relaxing in camp. Fire going, beer in hand. A buzz came by us at about 15 feet above. Trees went thud and then a boom from 250 plus meters out.
I got up ran to the truck a fired a slug in the air to let whomever fired we were there. Immediately another round came in.
Once again I fired now 2 slugs up.
Telling the misses to get down.
Yet another came in.

Now I'm ****ed. Grabbed my high power and reloads. Started touching off away from the idiots that are firing into my camp. But they differently heard me now.
Finally got their attention after 50 rounds.
I know they heard the short gun.
Why keep shooting?

Without knowing who, or having any description of the shooters, what can you do?

Maybe there’s a black Dodge dually involved.

Absolutely right.
Yelling never helped or shooting slugs up and away.
I'm sure it was accidental and lack of experience. But at 250 meters you should at least by a clue

I'm betting that they never heard you because if they were target shooting they would be wearing muffs.

I’m sorry but your blasting away into the heavens is just as irresponsible as some gomer flogging rounds into the abyss.

Im also sorry but there’s been a lot of pretty tall tales spun on this forum over the years, and yours sure follows the same theme. It’s pretty unbelievable, and I’m mighty skeptical about the validity of your claims.

In other words I’m having a hard time with your story.

Exclamation Hope no one got hurt.

I believe it is called reconnaissance by fire?
SOP is hunker down, sit tight, conserve your ammo, and go directly to Plan B.

OT- Sounds like they were poorly set up for target shooting. Similar situations happen regularly within 2 hours of Calgary, that is why areas keep getting shut down. Can't fix stupid.

Lol say what you'd like...that's what's forums are all about. I posted what happened to see if others have experience something similar and what they did. What happened to the us and how I reacted is what happened. Was it the right conduct? I'm not sure in hindsight.
I have never been on the receiving end of rounds before. It strictly came down to how close they came and what to do about it quickly.
The rests was because it ****ed me off.
Anyway your opinions are appreciated
