Default Helicopter on Private Property

Can a helicopter just land wherever they please?

Yup ,on privet land like a farm anyways or on crown land . They are not allowed to land in Provincial parks like Banff.
When i was younger,i was in one almost every month for work .
One trip we had ,it was to cloudy to get where i needed to go to pull wrenches so we landed in the school yard in Rainbow lake and then we jumped the fence to go have coffee for awhile .
I miss those days .

Can they put horses through a fence? I find it very odd that they can just plop themselves down wherever they please.

Do you mean private land with permission? Or in an emergency?
I can’t believe they can just plop down on my lawn and go for coffee…… or can they? lol

From what I can see online, unless it is an emergency
landing, they must have permission to land on private property.

I get oil and gas helicopters checking pipelines on my place. Sometimes they will land for few seconds. I'm not sure why. Pretty sure they are just doing their job and not up to anything bad. I even had a hot air balloon emergency land one time.

Emergency landings I’m good with. But they were not in a place they should have been.

I’d be downright livid if they run the horses through the fence.

I would be contacting a lawyer.

And if it stars. ?? The op asked a vague open question with no background and hopes for discussion to a senario that maybe didn’t happen. Facts. Are lacking

The implication, was that a helicopter landed and scared horses through a fence. Contacting a lawyer would be the best way to determine the legal implications, and if there were injuries to the animals, possible compensation. Everything else would be speculation.

Who's helicopter?
Even big shots in my area can't afford helicopters. Probably oil and gas maybe went to wrong property?
I get military flying over. Foreign ones because no way Canada has this kind of equipment but they don't land and I'm probably just on their route or something. If you don't know who it was I'm not sure what you can do?

Stars? lol

The question wasn’t vague at all. The question is: Can a helicopter just land wherever it pleases? You say that they can. I say, I’m about to find out.

Must be a "Friday" discussion thread .

I'm thinking it's a silent black helicopter.

Chem trails in the area? Cattle mutilations?

Seriously though - these 2 articles likely answer your question.

https://www.richmond-news.com/local-...ywhere-5394346

https://globalnews.ca/news/5362940/t...icopter-party/

Long story short - they cannot just land their helicopter on private property.

I normally wouldn’t care, but they were stupid. They lit on a section of land that has no cows in it yet. 20 acres of that section has been fenced out for horses, and horses were in there. What a bunch of morons.

I'm sure they could, we had a hot air balloon land adjacent to our place, the horses were not happy. Some people just don't know any better. Get a tail number , file a complaint.

Didn't think people living out in the country would be such Karens.

'Helicopter landed somewhere I didn't like. I better immediately phone a lawyer!'

So do you just drive in and park your truck on someone else’s property? They put horses on the run. It is pretty remote, and it is a complete fluke that someone was there to see them and also intercept the horses.

That was exactly my thought. Good news for them is they were surrounded by public land. They had 1million acres to take their pee on.

You are leaving out the part about the helicopter landing close enough to spook livestock through a fence. Animals could have been lost or injured, because the pilot didn't have the common sense to avoid livestock.

Bizarre. And I’ve never said here I was going to involve a lawyer.

Funny enough I can no longer see that comment. Probably got censored by the mods since I insulted the Cheeto Prez.

You may not have said anything about a lawyer, but multiple other posters who live in the sticks have suggested just that.

I suggested that the best way to determine the legality of what happened, as well as any liability/compensation considerations, that may result, would be to contact a lawyer.
