Default 28 Nosler Load Data

I just acquired a new 28 Nosler, never had one before so I’m wondering what’s a good powder to start with for this cartridge? 7828? H1000?

RL 26 appears to be a real good candidate for that cartridge.

Christensen Arms Ridgeline, if it’s as accurate as my other Ridgeline’s I’ll be a happy camper.

It’ll be my loaner rifle, last time I lent out my M70 featherweight the guy put a scratch in it I don’t really want to loan out my Gunwerks either so this will be good option. Should make for a nice flat 0-400 hold on hair rifle.

Loaner you say? Hmmm. I will pick that loaner up on Oct 30th and will have it back to you by the 15th. I remember where you live. If you could make your famous chili that evening, I'd love to have a bowl or two when I stop by to get the loaner. BTW, I'm not at all fussy about what kind of scope you put on it.

Leupold VX-6 3-18x44 illuminated reticle. Not my first choice in optics but beggars can’t be choosers

Don't really need it, but it's the thought that counts

rl26, rl25, retumbo is where i will be starting with mine. Have not decided on a bullet yet but it's an 8 twist so thinking i'll start on the heavies, 175 and up.
I would definetly try h1000 with the 162's.

I can’t warm up to the bronze ones, I just don’t like bronze paint on rifles, same goes for the hells canyon, just not my thing I guess.

I run 76 gr Retumbo with the 180 gr VLD's - just over 3000 fps. This is on the low end from allot of others i have read about but my gun seemed to show pressure signs early and this load is just too accurate to bother trying to get more speed.

I ordered some 168 Barnes LRX yesterday to try with my reamer throated for the 195 Bergers. Gonna start with Reloder 26 for those.

I settled on 81grns of N570 topped off with a Berger 180 VLD hunting pill. Tried Retumbo and R33 with both Bergers and Hornady ELDX but neither seemed to do the business. 3130fps out of a 24” Suppressed pipe. 1/2” if i manage to do my part 🤔

I shoot a lot of 162 grain out of my 7 RUM, pretty much don't using anything else in it any more. 7828SC and Retumbo have been the two best powders for accuracy and top speeds. They also seem to burn a tad cooler, but that isn't really saying much when your torching of 90 or so grains a round. Definitely recommend you develop the loads using Fed 215 or Win Mag primers. The CCI 250 mags are not hot enough to reliably touch off those big powder loads, especially below -20.

I was shooting 80.3gr of Retumbo with 175 Bergers Elite Hunter had it shooting under 1/2" then ran out of powder and cant find any so i switched to 76.5gr of H1000 and its shooting under 1/2" again. I've tried 175Gr ELD-x's and Nosler LRAB 175gr and didnt have much luck but didnt try to hard as the Bergers were shooting very good. getting 3120 ft/sec

I just so happen to have H1000 and 175gr bergers.

I was out doing the barrel break in this weekend and was really surprised at how little the 28 Nosler kicks, was expecting a little more. It could be the platform though, the Christensen’s stock design really seems to absorb the recoil nicely!

Notice the improvised bore guide..... an old aluminum arrow shaft and som duct tape
