Default Feds axe wetland funding

Seems our eco green ruling party has their priorities a little out of wack. Other countries must need $$ more than us.

https://www.watercanada.net/canada-h...ervation-fund/

“Wetlands are a proven ecological resource that increase the resilience of a watershed and protects communities and wildlife from the impacts of climate change and other human-caused disturbances,” said Elizabeth Hendriks, VP freshwater, WWF-Canada. “It is hard to imagine why a government with a mandate to support green infrastructure and address climate change would remove a tool that communities are using to restore critical wetland infrastructure.”

Y2Y? Less land to enjoy freely?

Something big is happening.

“Environmental and conservation groups are convinced that there will be a significant amount of money — up to $1.4 billion dollars — in next week's federal budget for conservation.

They say all signs point to a growing political commitment to meeting Canada's international goal of protecting 17 per cent of its land and fresh water by 2020.”

“About 10 per cent of the country's land has been protected so far, but adding the further seven per cent — approximately equal to the land mass of Manitoba — will take time and commitment from the federal, provincial and territorial governments and Indigenous groups. Hazell said they have to see money in this budget to make it happen by 2020.”

Strictly speaking from a global view point yes other countries need incentive(read money) more then we do when it comes to environmentalism.

We are already one of the cleanest countries in the world by far. We have given up much of our manufacturing etc in order to get that way. Did transferring all this work to China, India, Mexico etc to improve our environmental affect actually help the earth as a whole?

Nope, if anything it made things worse as these other countries don't care about environmentalism... It did cut a bunch of jobs and industries here though...

Because saving wetlands in remote Canada doesn't promote you in getting a nice, cushy, high profile UN appointment after your gig as PM is up. Pouring Canadian taxpayer dollars into other countries, and publicly shedding tears over the worlds less fortunate does.
