Default Will the flood impact the fishing regs???

This is a sister thread to Flieguy's thread on fish population.

If there is a severe enough negative impact on the fish populations from this flooding disaster.....do you think it could affect the catch limits or maybe close some rivers to fishing this season???

i personally dont think so either but there maybe species in areas not previously and anglers might not know if they can keep them or not. example allen bill has a good population of rockies now and i thought you could keep them and a different part of the regs say no.

The flood of 1995 resulted in BC turning the Elk River system to C&R resulting ultimately in today's quite incredible fishery.
Well, Alberta which had the same flood followed it's typical path and did sweet tweet.
I expect Alberta will follow tradition.

Fishing was good after the 2005 flood, the fish know how to hunc'er down, young ones might get lost in the woods. Holes and runs will change but as a whole the river should be deeper and faster.

Do folks remember prior to 2005 fishing around the weeds mid July and August. all of that crap got washes away.

While fish might know how to deal with some high water, the volume of water coming downstream is much greater than '05 and the peak is lasting longer. Like as in 5x the normal amount. While the gov't might not do anything, nature has -- and I suspect fishing might be affected because they can't fight the currents for days.

It will take a long time to find out if there is major change in fish numbers or habitate, and I'm sure even a longer one before changes if any are made.

I wonder if the flood will wash the dydimo off the rocks... i pray it does! Could really help the fishery for the future.
