Default 25 wsm

Hi Guys
Looking at getting a 25 WSM or 25 Pronghorn, it is basicly a 270 or 300wsm necked down to 25 cal.
I like the looks of them, close to 257bee speeds without weatherby brass.
Anyone have any info?

Default 25wsm

you could take a 25/06 case and fill it with hybrid 100v and a 80 gn barnes it will do all that the 257 wby will do ( 3800 fps ) brass is easier to find and when you finish off that pipe you can rebarrel to any other standard cartridge

One can always make 257 wby brass from 7rem mag or 264 mag if thats holding you back.

One thing I would recommend if you proceed with your 25 wsm project is to use an action already designed for the short mag otherwise feeding can be a night mare

I am currently converting a old Ruger m77 into a 300wsm and it takes some work to make it feed properly.

I just replied to your other thread over on GN. 25SST with a fast twist barrel to shoot the 131 gr Blackjack. New Blackjack hunting bullet coming out soon. These bullets are a game changer for the 25 cal. Guys have had good results on game so far. Go to Sherman Wildcat website or search on LRH lots of info on the Sherman Shorts. Best performance out of a true short action without COAL problems. 25SST and a 131 Blackjack at 33-3350 fps is bad medicine for game and will really cheat the wind.

Wildcats are like hot rods - they are always cool, often very unique , resale is always a let down money wise , and there is always someone out there with a
“ better mouse trap”.
Have fun with it no matter which action and parent case is used.
One thing I would suggest after wildcatting more than a few WSM’s, is to decide
What case specifically you are going to use , get the reamer built around that case and stick with it .

Yeah those Blackjack bullets are creating quite a stir. I was torn as to which SST to build so I went 6SST and 7SST. I have a 25-06AI that drives 115 bergers at 3350 fps so that covers my 25 cal needs for now. I might rebarrel when I see the new blackjack hunting bullet. Or possibly get a fast twist barrel for this new switch barrel build I’m doing. Lots of PRS and F class guys running SST and SS. So much that they can’t keep up with brass supply on some calibers.
