Default 102 bull elk

My wife will be pulling her 102 first season bull elk tag this year. Anyone out there willing to give any tips or experiences from seasons past or the present season?

Hunted for antelope few years ago didn’t see one single moose in the 5 days we were there I would suspect they down in the Milk river Valley permission was a breeze.

They’re there, I’ve seen some pretty nice herds.

Having good moisture for access is a huge variable for that first season. With the risk of fire and closures it can be a tough tag to have on really hot dry years. I know several people who draw that tag in the first season with a lot of disappointment as they don't realize that variable. Heck, even into late Oct can be tricky as evidenced by a couple years ago antelope season and huge fire risk.

I may have a buddy who will be drawing a tag this year, but I'd be glad to help with what I know. Some great ranchers down there and some truly amazing country to hunt in.

Rackmastr the moisture variable Was definitely I huge concern and a big gamble! But I do love the country down there, and fingers crossed we will have enough rain that we can have decent access. The wife has already started training for putting a lot of miles on foot, we are pretty excited for her first prairie elk hunt.
