Trail cams that last ( input )

I use trail year round and I need more . It seems after a few years the cams dont seem to work as good. I’m sick of malfunctioning cameras . Does anyone have any recommendations

I leave mine up yr round too. Have had good luck with uway, wild game innovations, and some moultrie. Spy point=junk. Primos, not to bad. Have had good luck with cams that take 8 AA batteries as opposed to c or d cell batteries. Buy decent batteries.

Some of my Spy Point cameras are about 6yrs old,i use only copper top batteries,changed batteries and sd cards last sept they were still taking pics in april ,cant complain

I have heard often Browning and Bushnell have great cams but I am cheap. I like to spend -$150 per cam or even -$100 per cam. All the super cheap cams are junk.

My 3 older bushnell’s , I get lots of white flashes . I thing the infrared is not working like it should.

I have some old Bushnell Trophy Cams that have been in continuous service for 8-10 years, chewed on by bears, and still work great.

Have had mixed success with the newer Bushnells, so last year bought some G42 Stealth Cams.
They seem ok, but it's like 1 year experience with them so far.

I wish I had bought 10 of those old Bushbell Trophy Cams, back in the day.

Moultrie here,going on 5 years with numerous of series. Haven’t had any issues with any of them either,mine all take 8 of the double AA batteries.

I've had four Reconyx that have been running for over 8 years without a malfunction. Not cheap but I think worth the price. Their technology has of course has advanced but these older ones are all I need. They run for about a year and a half on a set of batteries.

Many manufacturer's have updates that can be down loaded and may increase the performance of your existing cams.

I have about a dozen stealthcams, last year 2 would work with every function except actually triggering for pictures. They were both 3 years old

The worst was spypoint.
The best was Ridgtec. By far.
In the middle was stealth and moultrie.

I just pulled a Browning cam from Nov. over 3,000 pics and still 60% battery life! I’ve had nothing but good luck with them and they are still fairly reasonable on price.

I have 4 of the older large Primos 35 and 40 cameras. Put the 40 out Dec 1 and batteries died about Mid March. Had 19000 pics. Only 3 were of an animal. Same mule deer fawn. Months apart!!what a let down that was. A branch had fallen down and was hanging in front of it.
Only complaint I really have but maybe others get it too is false triggers from clouds and even shadows. I have sensitivity set low.

I’ve tried a lot of the different cameras. I also own a surveillance company so I work with security cameras every single day.

By far the worst I’ve used are stealth. I hate them. Junk. Miss pictures and overall just sub par.

2nd worst are WGI. Poor pictures and options.

For a $99-129 camera, I find Moultrie are the best.

For higher quality pics and videos I prefer Browning.

Currently I’m testing a Spy point Micro. In service for a few days and getting pics straight to my phone. Not bad for a $199 camera.

Tried a Cuddy,a Moultrie, a Spypoint and the little Simmons cameras. As the Cuddy and the Simmons failed one by one I replaced them with Brownings.
I have 5 in my camera string at the moment and I really like what they can do.
They are not battery hogs either. Watch for sales at Cabelas.

My homemade ones using Sony s600 and p41 are still going strong. Added d cell packs and good in cold. Made 7 cams and all run good for last 7 years. Lots of different cameras to build off now. Home builds way better than mass production imo.

I've had 3 spypoints for 6 years, ate by bears, beaten up and still work amazing!!! I just recently bought the 3 pack stealthcam from cabelas set them up few months ago will check soon see how they are!

Look for a trail cam that has a jack for a solar panel or an auxiliary battery. I had a nice bushnell trail cam that had a solar panel. Worked great. You have to have a good safe place to put it because the panel needs exposure.

Ive had many different brands over the years. My favorite by far is the Spypoint force ten. 3 of them out year round for 3 yrs now and still working great.

I have a spypoint thats over 6 yrs old and still works great.

I have a super cheapy simmons cam that has likely taken over 100,000 pictures and still works well, but dont recommend them as the other 2 died first time in field haha.

Depending on Manufacturer, you should have a USB / Aux cable cord in which the cam can be updated from the manufacturer's website. Do a quick search with the model and you should find the updates.

I have had a string of 12 cams now for a number of years. Sooner or later they all fail but what do you expect for a $150 device out in the bush getting baked in sun, soaked in downpours,frozen in minus 30C temps,banged up and jostled in back seat floor of truck, and chewed on by critters.
My worst cams with quickest failures were Wildgame Innovations,Stealth Cam and Primos ( those real small cheap ones)
My best results and the ones I have now are Spypoint, Moultrie and Cuddieback in that order
I have several Spypoints and Moultries that are at least 6 yrs old or better and still going strong
From reading the posts sounds like you can get a great one from any make/ model or a real dud from any model....sounds like trucks!!

Own 3 reconyx and one of them has ran for 17 years. Never one issue. EVER.
