I have a suggestion.

Let’s start a post just for ppl to post pics of
Yotes they have shot,
yardage shot at
and whether or not follow up shots were needed.
Damage or lack of damage to pelts (for those that skin em)
Then we can really see which ammos are pelt friendly and which ones are not so much. 🤔

I can tell ya what is NOT fur friendly,lol....100gr Interlock .243 @40yards spine shot last November.....pretty much cut that fella in half ....sorry no pics/wasn’t even worth skinning

Picked up some 58gr Vmax for .243 this summer but haven’t got to try them on a yote yet.

Factory or you load them? I found the bullet on one and it was just under the skin on the exit side. I don’t think any have exited. 🤔

I’ve tried some Vihtavuori N530 pushing VMax 40gr, never could get the advertised max at 4055fps without a sticky bolt, has anyone?

The advertised max is 25.8 grains of N530 which would likely not give much more than 3711. The start load of 23.1 grains gives 3323f/s or 143.85 f/s/grain and that times 25.8 grains = 3711. This load would be very near max pressure for the 204R and going past 25.8 grains to sticky bolt would have you up in the 70,000 PSI range. There is obviously a misprint in the VV manual and doing the math, as I did, points it out without risking life and limb.

I have a friend who has shot about 60 coyotes at 180-300 yards with the 32 Z-Max. Shot through the lungs they have all been bang flops and much the same with quarting to and quartering away shots. Surprisingly they have all penciled right through leaving small holes that his trapper friend is very happy with. I believe that he has tried a few 30 Blitz Kings with the same result. Perhaps this performance is due to the fact that he is only pushing them to about 3850 fps in an 11" twist barrel.

If I were able to hunt coyotes I would run my 9" twist barrel and the 55 Bergers at around 3200 fps. Good result have been reported by others running this combination.
