“Best Date Ever”
I’ve been putting in my wife’s draws for antelope for years now hoping she would convert to hunting. She has shot a whitetail and a nice mule deer buck in the past. As our 5 boys are getting older and the oldest two hunting now, she has decided to give in and join us in our hunting. We pulled her tag for antelope, mule deer and elk this year. First up was her antelope. I booked the grandparents to watch the boys for 3 days, and booked a motel in milk river for our second honeymoon, ha,ha. I had located so e nice bucks and herds with some earlier scouting. We headed out monday and got on three buck first thing. We belly crawled to 150 yards and had a perfect 150 yard shot at a buck, but we decided it was too small. I was worried i should have had her shoot as the setup was perfect. We moved onto another big herd moving across some fields. We got ahead of them a couple quarters and sat in the long grass and waited for them to get closer. We layed there for a good hour or two watching them. After a bit I thought I heard an antelope grunt behind us, but turned around to see my wife out cold snoring. Guess the 5:30 wakeup call caught up to her. The big buck in that group eventually ran off. We packed out and started driving to another spot. On our way we found a field with around 100 antelope on it with one really nice buck. I was able to track down the landowner and get permission. We got her setup on the field edge and she made a great 200 yard shot. The buck got bigger as we got up to him. He has crazy mass. 7 inch circumferences, thats carries way up. We had a blast and my wife keeps saying it was the funnest date we’ve ever had. She is asking when we are going out for elk and mule deer now. Can’t wait for the rest of the season.

Awesome "date." Have taken my wife on a few to the high places. That's a great story & a very heavy mass speed goat. Thanks for sharing. Well done!

X2! Fantastic date!
It sure pays to have a spouse who loves the outdoors. I’m one of the lucky ones too.

No it costs
I swear my wife spends more at cabelas then I do when we stop there, owns nicer gear, and she might even own as many guns as I do now
But on a positive note I don’t get harassed ever when I buy hunting stuff lol

I would be totally good with that! I’m hoping some future holidays can revolve around hunting too!

Keep her interest/keep it fun and encourage her when she comes up with goals/hunts she wants to experience and you will likely get your wish.
My best bit of advice is get her involved in the whole process and don’t forget to have her input on the the types of hunts she may want to experience.
Congrats again to you both and good luck

Haha! That is true.
I’m lucky in that mine really hates Camo so I just have to keep her supplied in ammo and clays.
