Default Dog e-collar

What’s everyone using for e-collars? It seems like the Garmin 550 pro plus is what I’m looking for but Garmin doesn’t sell it in Canada. Has anyone heard of people successfully using the 550 pro plus up here?

Yes the 550 would be nice! I am running 2 collars at once, garmin astro 900 with the garmin sport pro. Really only need the astro when im hunting thick cover anyways so i dont mind having the 2 different ones.

So your using the sport as your main control collar and the Astro just to track? How do you like the Astro? Is it basically a full gps that tracks the dog? Can it tell when they are on point?

I have been using the Dogtra 2500 for five years now, and it has been excellent. My dog wears it every day, and battery life is still great. It is not a GPS collar, but I use the beeper to locate my dog if he is out of sight in heavy cover. You can also set the beeper to signal when the dog stops moving/is on point. I don't use the beeper full time, just when I need to locate my dog, or get his attention, when he is farther away on windy days.

Yeah exactly. the sport pro is my main train/hunt e-collar and then when i hunt thick cover i put on the astro as well (its a full neck of collars lol) but i really like the astro. It has tons of dog features on it. It does show alerts when the dog is on point yes. There are some good youtube videos explaining the astro more and showing the features if your interested. Plus i just saw the astro was almost half-price at cabela's recently, not sure if thats still on or not.
