Default Scope Rings?

I have just bought my first gun and it’s a Weatherby Vanguard in 243 for my daughter. I need to buy a scope and am thinking along the lines of a Vortex Diamondback. How should I know what rings to buy? Thx for the help!

The tube diameter is 1 inch on that scope. So any low 1 inch rings will do (given you are talking about a 40mm objective). This is a good option (shop around for price, probably can find a better price somewhere on the net or in-store):

Thx! I was talking about the 3-9x 40mm. I’ve seen Talley rings mentioned a lot. Are there any brands I should avoid? Thx.

Get the Talleys, call Prophet River they will set you up with the ones perfect for the rifle and ship the same day.

Either Talley or Leupold rings are a good choice. I would however suggest you look at the 3x9x40 Leupold. A bit more money, Dante's and Gobles had them on sale last week for 650 for the VX3i. You can also get the Freedom model, it is about $350. Better glass, much better built scopes. The Leupolds are made in the States, Diamond back is made in China, the Viper is made in the Japan but it costs as much as Alpha glass. Have as good a warranty as Vortex, difference is you will likely never need to use it.

X2 for Talley lightweight one piece.
Lows will work with a 40mm bell.
xtra low might work if the bolt clears.

Thanks for all the help! I had called Corlane’s before your suggestion of Prophet River and they are putting a Diamondback on a vanguard they have in their store and making sure it will fit. And I checked and Prophet River is sold out of those Leupolds also.
