Default Browning A5 vs Franchi Affinity

Hey. I'm new to AB outdoorsman but I think it is a great place to find experience and knowledge. I'm looking for a good waterfowl shotgun for ducks and geese. So far I've been considering the Browning A5 and the Franchi affinity. 12ga.,28in, 3in. Any advise or experience on either of these? Any other guns I should look at?

Neither, they will be illegal in about a month! Kidding, sort of. Both shotguns are dependable, and will suit you well. If they FIT. Shotguns, especially ones used for waterfowl must fit correctly. Browning is a prime example. I cannot stand any of their rifles. They simply do not fit me. But a browning shotgun is a thing of beauty. The Franchi, while serviceable, does feel quite right.

As far as other options, the Stoeger is a Benelli knock off so its actions is pretty good. I have heard good things about the weatherby sa-08, but haven't played with one so I can't vouch for it.

Default Franchi for me!

I tried the new A5, thought the action felt clunky/noisy while shooting. I did shoot well with it though.... then I shouldered the Affinity & it just felt right, so I bought it & have shot approx. 150-200 rounds so far, mix of backyard clays & duck/goose hunting.... has not had a single issue at all, from cheap 1oz light target loads to 4 different brands of 3" hunting shells. Cycles everything I feed it & kills what I shoot at, what more could you want?! If it fits you, you'll love it

Picked up a A5. Man it's smooth. Anything and everything I put for shells through it, it worked flawlessly. I have a win sx3 and Im selling it for another A5, the one I got now is yes dears. No need to clean like a gas gun. This is a 2-3/4 to 3-1/2 with 26 inch bbl.

Depending if you want to go to 3-1/2" or not, the Beretta A300 Outlander is another one to check out, If you were to go Browning A5, you are into the range of the Xtrema version as well.

I own an A5, buddy has an Affinity. Both worked flawlessly on a recent goose hunt, also both have been used for clays with no issues. Not sure about the Affinity, but my A5 is super easy to change out chokes and cycles extremely smooth. I'm sure either would be a fine choice.

Love my A5. Haven't shot an Affinity so I can't offer a comparison but my A5 has been nothing but reliable and smooth. Stripping for cleaning is a breeze as well.

I have a maxus, that thing is awesome. Never jams, I use some really dirty snow goose shells and it just keeps going. It takes light target shells and heavy goose shells like nothing. If the A5 has same action I wouldn't hesitate.

Beretta A300 just might be the best bang for your buck. They now make A300 extreme if you need 3.5" capability
