I'm not suggesting he is the sole reason they lost, or any reason really (although he does make some curious moves that I would strongly disagree with), I'm just thinking aloud, a coach can make a huge difference, just look at St. Louis. Last in the league in January, coaching change made, going strong in the second round.

Just pointing out, Caroline made it, and are doing quite well, as soon as he left and and he had a good team in the Flames that basically did nothing when they made it.

I didn't watch the game, so I can't comment on their play, but I still don't think they are that good. I think the Flames made them look great, unfortunately, but it wouldn't surprise me if the Sharks swept them.

Anyone hear Brad Treliving on 960 the other day? Of course did not say what was happening, but one thing I found interesting was when asked about goaltender and signings.
When he was asked about Smith he mentioned the obvious bad start but good finish and if you look at the numbers he was fine. Would it surprise anyone if we see same two goalies next season?? I think possible,.
Hearing Hamers name lots in the trade chat, hope that's not the case. Also Benny but that would be stupid as we need more grit, not get rid on one of the more gritty guys we have.
June 21 Draft day will kick off the offseason games. Should be interesting.

I’ve been hearing smith and oilers in the same sentence a lot lately. Wouldn’t freakin surprise me one bit

Heard that as well, Also heard Talbot and Calgary in same sentence, Seems like a lateral move so why bother. Just keep what we have. Elliot would be amazing in the Oilers jersey though. I like the sound of that one.

Well crap, how is this for bad luck. Mentioned this kid before as watched him in minor hockey around Okotoks. I really hope this doesn't drop him to much in the draft. Worst timing. Maybe will be available for the Flame at #26..

Never heard that from the YEG hockey experts , BUT they sure were talking about the Neal/Lucic swap and if it is worth it to either team. Saying Neal is younger and MIGHT be a good get in the long run. ME, I'm thinking Lucic can get out of this FUNK he's in

Treliving will need a sweetener, my guess. The trade at face value doesn't make sense.

Never happen. Lucic is a life sentence. Can see Lucic possibly ending up in Vancouver. If Neal gets traded I’m guessing Nashville. Wouldn’t be surprised if he stays either

I don't know why but I am on the line of thinking go with Neal another season. I get last year was his worst ever but I can't help but think he is so much better. Off year behind him I would be willing to go one more then decide. Think it's the potential of what he should be doing I can't shake.
Looking forward to the signings to start rolling in..

Kinda sucks for the Flames, going to be playing against Karlsson for the next 8 years. Not sure how the Sharks are going to fit 8 forwards in with approx. $12.5M, including Meier (30 goals last year), Gustav Nyquist (60 pts), Joe Thorton (51 pts), Joe Pavelski (38 goals), Joonas Donskoi (37 pts), and Kevin Labanc (56 pts) though. I'd think just Meier and Pavelski combined would be close to putting them over their cap.

He did get paid, and wow for a guy with his injury resume I'm surprised by the numbers. The contracts these players are getting these days is crazy.
Treliving is usually pretty good, so will see what he comes up with for Tkachuk.
Figure has to happen before to long with draft at end of the week.

And I’m thinking he’s usually on the bad end of deals. I should actually give him a 50/50 because I can think of 4 players who may be underpaid.

Looks like Philly decided to screw everyone with a half decent RFA and offer Kevin Haynes around $50M for 7 years. They guys is decent, but he's also 27 and never put up more than 55 points and only eclipsed 50 points in a season once. Seven+ million for a guy who averages about 45 pts/year seems like alot.

What does that make a guy with 50 goals and 100+ points worth?

Haahaa, if I have to play for the Oilers, I'd rather not play in the NHL.

"Jesse Puljujarvi tells Oilers: ‘Trade me or I’ll play in Europe’"

And some fans think we are jealous of them!

Well how do you think we did in the draft? I think did ok with the spots we were picking. I think getting Wolf for a goalie in the 7th round may have been a steal. Best save % in the WHL last year, nice. Kipper was a late draft pick also. HHmm

Side note my man from Okotoks was 17th in the first round, so looks like Vegas is my new 2nd favorite team. Good job Krebs.

Default Draft

I would have preferred to see Stone or Frolic, traded for pics in this years draft.
But we did ok, with what we had.

Thinking trades are coming after free agency opens here July 1st. Need to sign Tkachuk first then see what they have to work with. Can add Jon Gillies to the pile of trades, won't need him with two recent goalie pick ups.
