We have been with ACT, they are very reliable at monitoring your home for security/fire etc. They also have highly respected security signs to get the attention of the low level scum that might try break into your home. Lastly they are very prompt at sending you invoices every 6 months.

Monitored DIY is the way to go. Ring, Nest, Abode, etc. Do some research so you can buy only what you need and don't give the d-bag salesmen any commission. There was a thread not too long ago that had some bad stories of their sales tactics.

Then you can get creative with the signs.
