Default Anyone have any info on mountain lakes conditions?

Was hoping to get one more hike/fish in before the season ends but with the early cold spell we had I'm wondering if things have started to freeze up. Was thinking Chester, Rawson, Rummell, Picklejar etc... or even just walking around upper K. Any info would be great. Thanks.

Should still be good to go but not for long maybe only until next week. All the valley bottom lakes are still ice free.

The photos I've seen on a Facebook hiking group of the higher elevation lakes look all iced over. My guess is that anything but the valley bottom lakes have enough ice to be unfishable.

You can go to Alltrails - hiking site and find hikes around the lakes you are interested in. Then look for pictures and posts regarding the lakes. I only looked at Rawson and Elbow and both are completely iced over.

I wouldn't be surprised if they're all iced over, we had several weeks of cold, and given the elevation there were probably very few days above zero at any of the alpine lakes.

Thanks, all.

I guess I'll just play it safe and hit the highwood.

Alpine lakes are iced over. I was ice fishing earlier this month, but not sure if I would trust the couple inches of ice after its been warmer last couple weeks
