Default K-Country trail shut down

Was out touring around on the long weekend in K-country and seen that the Mist Creek trail was shut down for bears. Supposedly there was a dead horse along the trail. Does anybody know the story on this? Did the horse die naturally or was it a bear kill? Hate to have bears start to get the taste of horseflesh.....

My understanding is that the horse had to be put down by it's owner right on the trail. I'm sure the CO's could tell you more than that.

The trail was shut down from a horse that broke its leg and the owner had to put it down, you could still go up mist valley. This is from the fw friend i know, they tried to dragg it with a quad away from the trail but didn`t get too far so for the sake of the hikers the trail got a trail closed sign.

Get caught in a closed area in K-Country and prepare to pay a fine.

trail is closed for 250 meters on either side between Mist ridge in route to Rickerts pass. Stay safe if anybody is headed in there.
