Default .300rcm

Just wondering if anyone has one, and what your thoughts on them are. From what I read it gets the same performance as a .300wsm out of a 24" barrel in .300rcm out of a 20" barrel. Also ammo availability

As far as I know the only major manufacter of 300 rcm ammo and brass is hornady.

Buy a WSM and leave the RCM to its inevitable fate.
Better yet buy a 30-06 and spend the savings in ammo on more trigger time.

It never lived to be used as intended,300WSM went much further and at least have destiny.
Looks like they came to an idea to late or tried to use popularity of 300WSM to get the market but obviously it did not work

With Superformance ammo it did as advertised, or close, with two different RCM's that I chronoed.

In reality without Superformance propellant you reliably get 24" barrel .30-06 performance from a 20" barrel rifle. I like the cartridge, the 20" Ruger RCM rifle and the ballisitics it gives but agree that its never going to be popular...

Same reason why the .338 rcm 'might' survive. Factory ammo rides the coattails of the .338 wm but without access to proprietary powders the best the handloader can hope for is a quick handling 338-6.

I own a 338 rcm. I agree that with what your saying.

Now I do have 6 boxes of 225 grain interbond superformance so I'm good for awhile. When I do start reloading I will have a bunch of once fired brass and really 338-06 ballistics in a quick handling 20" barrel will suit me just fine.
Some 210 grain Nosler partitions sounds like a good bullet to start....

I do love the short 338rcm.
