About 4kg. I only fly fish. I am privileged to spend prime time (early spring and mid-autumn) at a family cabin in northern Sask. I will be in Calgary for the first time in several years this autumn. I am hoping to break my personal best.

I heard of a guy who would got out in a certain reservoir in the Spring and get pulled around, where canal would enter the reservoir, hhhmmmm, 19lbs, that must have been awesome, still haven't caught anything near that big on a fly rod. Do you use wire or fluoro leaders?

I have caught a couple in the 20# range on my fly rod in a canoe. Even a 10# can take the canoe for a little spin around the bay.

I was convinced by somebody on this board to give a 2 piece tapered leaders a try 40#fluoro -> 25# fluoro -> bite tippet. I think the taper makes a difference when you are fighting windy conditions. I tried using 80# fluoro for bite tippet and I found it screwed up a relatively nice taper. 40# wire is still thinner (and maybe even lighter) than 25# fluoro leader material.
