Question Tan Stock Painting & Krylon Web Paint

Hey guys,
Just thinking about spray painting my two savage stocks coyote tan or such and with a bit of texture. I also wanna use the Krylon black web spray on top of that.
Just curious if anyone has done this what they would recommend, and also if they have a spare can of the Web spray kicking around as I can't seem to find that anywhere

Thanks

I did my sons Savage and his Tikka. If you haven't used the webbing spray befor is suggest you pracrice a bit on some wood or cardboard first. I bought the spray at Michaels, but I'm sure worst case scinario you can buy it online.

Ya, but we got it right on the Tikka.

The Savage will work for the little guy when he grows into it though.

Michaels carries the webbing paint. Practise with it a bit before hitting the stock.

What kind of results can I expect painting a wood stock? I'm concerned about the wood denting under the paint and causing chips.

Would I be sanding the stock prior to the webbing spray.I have a weatherby vanguard that originally had the blaze paint job. It got painted but it doesn't look the best. I'd like to redo it myself

sweet thanks, ill have to check out michaels this week and see if they have it in stock.

does anyone bother using primer or just sand it a little and paint?

then in the end maybe just a clear coat or two of satin?

I usually do a very light sanding I the synthetic stocks and then paint with Krylon but I do a very light coat of paint and do about 8-10 coats.

Not sure why anyone would want to paint a wood stock. Seems like a shame.

Thanks for the help. Might get started this week. And yes looks like Michaels has the black web spray. Have to ask for it. Also have gold Web spray. Be nice if they had white too. Oh well. http://cloud.tapatalk.com/s/578e4583...19_072454.png?

Well I got both the 223 and 308 done and just did the old shotgun for giggles.
That webbing spray is a strange thing to work with to try and make it look good.
Went from standard synthetic stock to something more custom.
Hopefully holds up good in the field.

Can anyone recommend a good adjustable cheek rest for the 223? Sort of want them to match now, but I'm not biased to a strap on style rest?

I notice your guns turned out shinny, my first ones did too. For my latest paint experiment I found a spray called "frosted glass" and the stuff is awesome. I tried the flat clear coat but my stocks still came out shinny, with this frosted glass not only do you get a true matt finish but it's also got a sandy texture for added grip.

Who makes the frosted glass and sells it?
And yeah don't like the shine too much even though it is a flat clear coat

I think Krylon makes it but I got it at Home Depot.
