Default Calling All TC Pro Hunter Owners

As you have probably read elsewhere, I am in the market for a single shot. I reached out to a few member regarding the single shot. I have not decided yet between Ruger, TC or Winchester/browning.
I would like to gather as much info on the TC by those that hunt with one before I decide which to track down.
I would like to know of any issues with
a) consistent accuracy most of all.
b) problems with the hinge pin as reported on the net
c) Ejection/extraction
d) what do you like and don't like
e) would you buy another one knowing what you know today.

Thanks for your input.

I own 3. 25-06, 280, and 243.
All are consistent accuracy wise and are very accurate.
No issue with hinge pins, but I did put bellm oversize pin
No issues with ejection or extractor. Would be nice if it really spit em out.
Like the fit/feel of em, like the wide range of calibres, don't like the availability of barrels. Hard to find. Prefer the wood stocks on em.
I would buy more. Love to have one in 35 whelen, and 338 federal, 270.

I have one pro hunter and one encore.
The receivers are similar the major difference being the hammer. The hammer on the pro hunter can swivel.
These products have no hanger bars, I know the Ruger has a hanger and will assume Winchester and Browning also.

a- accuracy is what you define; I like what mine can do.

b- I have not changed the pin yet, but I find a real wood stock seems to promote a tight lock up. I am looking at adding a hanger bar, but I will have to wait for the money fairy to reward me.

On my pro hunter the receiver screw would come loose after some use; I used some lock tight and haven’t had issues since.

I believe what the belim site promotes, but I have not done any of the changes.

c-break it open and the extractor present the case, pull it out.

d-the cost of a barrel and not having the ones that were once available.

e- yes

Too much information on the web and it is difficult to make a decision, but used this link when I was looking.

Default TC

I have owned one, had 4 barrels and it was awesome. Only issue was the extractor would get caught and not extract the shell occasionally. Accuracy was quite good. No modifications were needed on mine. I sold it for some reason....still haven't totally figured out why.

I had one and sold it. Don't remember why either. Wish I hadn't.

Owned one in the past. Wish I hadn't sold it. Only gripe was uncomfortable to carry over arm or slung at times. But to be fair I didn't put much effort in rectifying it

I have one in 204. Deadly accurate. Shoot coyotes out to 400 gopher at 200+. No issue with the extractor. Balance and the trigger is nice. Like the safety feature of having to pull the hammer back.

With the recoil design on stock it is like shooting in HDTV. No kick.

My only issue was "curing" the barrel. When I bought it, the sales guy said don't be surprised if it takes 120 rounds before you get the accuracy they are known for. It did take that amount of rounds and now I can us 34 gr or 32 gr or 26 or 24 and no scope adjustments are needed.

When it came around I was in a gopher patch on that was just crawling. I stacked 9 gophers up in a pile at 175 yards. My buddy said when I was wandering around his field to pick some rocks. Told him I don't wander. I set up and that is it. He did see the damage one day when a gopher went twenty feet in the air and ten yards farther out. Asked it that was normal. Yep.

Found other used barrels with scopes but never pulled the trigger on buying them. Would like to get a 25-06 barrel for it.

I have 3 TC's. A .300wm, .270 and a 209x.50
Two of the three is a ProHunter
I have bought into the BellM components to ensure best accuracy i.e. the oversized hinge pins, shimmed for low headspace, trigger spring and hammer spring, lock spring too.
The rifles didn't "need" these,,, I just like to tinker
I'm in Edmonton so if you want to chat about them, send me a PM.

I have a TC in 7 mag. My turret goes to 750 yards and it's very accurate out to there. No problems with it. My friend sold his 300 win mag after going through a couple of warranty barrels and would not consistently place shots. I would never sell mine. Love it

Default TC Prohunter vs Ruger #1

I had a TC Pro hunter in 270 Win. I loved to shoot it. There was very little recoil. It was very accurate. I could shoot groups that could be covered with a quarter. I had to make sure that I was holding the rifle very tight and with my hand on top of the barrel. There seemed to be an excessive amount of barrel jump upon firing the rifle. I missed some game with it by shooting high from the barrel jump. I sold it. Never had that problem with my Ruger #1. The recoil from it is a push straight back. I did have to play around with the #1 to make it shoot as accurately as I thought it should shoot. I have made some great shots with it too. My money would go toward the #1.
