I have the DPMS Panther Oracle. Haven't had it to the range but feels well put together apart from the rattle in the buttstock, but that's an easy fix

Mine is a Stag left hand. It works great. I changed the quad rail and put a 1-4 red dot on it.

I sold my Colt, and my ACR before the federal election, and with the recent school shooting, I am glad that i did.The Liberals and RCMP were already going after this type of firearm, and the school shooting will just be another excuse, even though the firearm used was not this type.

I've been thinking of getting one again just to be grandfathered if they do manage to pull some legislative change. That action is probably prioritized after the refugees and international financial aid to the parts of the world that like to kill westerners but before anything to do with the economy or job creation.

How did you like both?

I was thinking either colt or ACR, but there's also the XCR which is non-restricted.

Oh the choices.

My ACR was non restricted. It functioned fine, and was much easier to clean than my AR. The AR was a bit more accurate. I have fired a couple of XCRs, and that experience led me to purchasing the ACR instead.

I have a bushmaster. Not really an ar15 fan, but I thought I'd get one just to help and do my part to bump up the numbers of the dreaded ar15 in Canada. I think I might have bought it after seeing one of those "buy a gun, **** off a liberal" bumper stickers. Total impulse buy, but it still makes me smile.

Daniel Defense makes good AR's, as do Colt, lmt, kac.. If I was going to build one I'd use aero precision lower, Colt upper and a DD BCG.

Core 15 Piston Driven and Daniel Defence. I should have started with the DD in the first place.

I think everyone should buy at least an ar stripped lower.
I bought a polymer one for $40, just so I could have an ar15 registered to my name, and have one more ar15 owner in Canada.

I recommend Aero Precision... Above Mil-spec tolerances, and easy on the wallet.

Admittedly they have no "extra features" like integrated sling-swivel attachment, ambidextrous controls, etc...

But a great project platform, unless you absolutely need those "extras".

I'm liking my Windham Weaponry very much! Still researching parts for a build on a Core 15 stripped lower.

There is a lot of debate over this, but I agree.

Even a standard lower isn't that much. I currently have 2 complete AR's, but was thinking of getting a lower or two more just because.

It's amazing how easy the gun enthusiasts in Canada roll over and play dead when they thing rule changes are coming. We are most definitely not the US, which makes changes easy.

From my limited research, there are tons of good options. Some slightly better then others, but there are always wants vs needs.

My AR's are the Afgan Special (also goes by another name...) and a Stag 3G. The Stag is a well put together rifle, but it's also not the cheapest.

I think I'll buy an Aero precision, and maybe a nice CNC'd lower, simply because I appreciate the work that went into finely CNC'd product.

I've had DPMS, Aero Precision, CMMG, Spikes Tactical, BCM and Stag rifles and/or rifles made from those manufacturers components. Used to build them in my basement at one time. Not anymore, sold them all a few years ago. Fun stuff........but wanted to downsize. I've done more than my part for increasing AR15 ownership

Just wait until they ban the 10/22... Won't be any choices for semi autos in a bit IMO.

I've got the fairly new V11 Pro. It is a little spendy but it is fairly reasonable when you consider the extras that you get.

So if you are building an AR from parts the lower is the one piece that is registered as restricted?

This part:

Thanks for your help!

Yes.
A lower with no moving parts is registered as an ar15.
They can be had for less than $100, and I personally think that's money well spent. (Better than an nfa membership; but I digress)
Politicians only care about votes, so the more voters who own ar15's (technically) the nicer the politicians will be to them.
