Default Help fleeting my own arrows!!

I have damaged fletchings on half a dozen arrows already. So to save me going in to get arrows re-fletched all the time I bought a bohning fletching jig. Now I have questions. How do I clean the old glue and how do I set up the jig?

Personally I use wraps, so as soon as I shoot one off, i just peel the remaining wrap off, and re-fletch the whole arrow. If you do not use wraps, you can use a butter knife of something similar to scrape if off. I would not use to sharp of a knife though because you would shave off some carbon...

Default cleaning arrows

Clean most of the glue off with a knife or buy a tool made for the job. Then use comet or any brand of tub cleaner with a green scouring pad and rub briskly, rinse good with hot water, dry. Before fletching wipe down with alchol.
Cheers Roscoe

If you still need some glue I seen that G5 Blu Glu is the best when tested.
Wraps are good for the reason mentioned but is stops there wraps do not hold fletching to the arrow as well as a properly preped and glued fletch to shaft would. Also when one fletch gets wrecked you are forced to refletch the whole arrow to apply a new wrap.

You Yube is a great source for DIY bow work just make sure to watch more than one video and read the comments some guys on there don't know squat either.

Here is a glue test that also covers prep.
