Default 22-250 ai

Picked up a cooper .22-250 Ackley improved and now in the midst of fire forming a collection of brass. Any reloading info greatly appreciated. I have had excellent results with 39.5 gr 760 powder and 50 gr V-max with the .22-250 itself, and would like to continue with this powder but definitely open to other options

Your on the right track. Powders that work for 220 swift would be applicable to the 22-250AI

If you lightly oil the cases before fireforming , there is less case loss and they tend to form better. Don't forget to remove oil build up from chamber once cases are formed

Load data for a 22-243 may be applicable.

Default 22-250Ackley

My advise to develop a load for 22-250Ackley is use the high end of regular 22-250 load data and work up.
Using the 220Swift or other calibres isn't a good idea.
Virtually all factory 22-250's are made with a 1:14 twist.
If you have SAME twist then it's pretty easy load development but if you have a slower twist and want to shoot the heavies then it becomes complicated because of limited publicated loads out there.
You could use other shooters internet information as a guideline.
My 22-250Acklely with 1:9 Krieger likes the 69SMK and 69Scenar with H4350
Shoot slow - these are prone to increased barrel errosion from rapid fire.

Make note I did not say to use load data from a 220 swift for 22-250 ackley , I said powders that work in the swift would probably work in the 22-250 ai

Default fire forming

Was sighting in the rifle while at the same time fireforming-not sure what velocities I am seeing with 39.5 gr of imr 760 and 50 gr V-max but at 100 yds-she was bullet hole into bullet hole!,thought this could not be true as never done this before ,so did it again and same result...now going to climb upwards a 1/2 a grain at a time with my imr 760(with a max of 43 grains) till accuracy go`s south on me !
