FishCat you said photobucket is free ?

I used to subscribe to a INSP in texas for like 18 to 20 dollars a
month to host my website including something like 2 gigs of HD space.
No spam, no banners, no adds, no BS. but $20 a month.

I started looking into photobucket just a few mins. ago but my brower
boggggged down and I bailed out.

Half my problems are my connection speed via HUGH net can be very
poor at times and I'm kind of locked into HUGH net from my location.
The other half is the current search engine wars and NEW WAVE changes
that are geered at advertising, spam, data mining.

So I'm trying to find the best way for me to get back to the kind of
internet browsing and interaction I once had. Or at least what it was 2 years ago.

I thank you for letting me know there is no charge for photobucket usage.
I didn't get that far tonight but will pursue this further tomorrow.

It's getting late, I have to go to work in the morning, I'll pick one or the
other PhotoBucket or INSP to go with and throw a rock through the other
window.

Thank you, my friend.

P.S. If you don't throw a rock nobody knows. Nobody Cares.
Signed ... Squeaky Wheel.

I usually just click on the paperclick icon when you type a message and add an attachment. It's pretty easy.

Guitar Playin fish ...

All you have do is ask.

If i cant help you someone else here can.

It's winter time, time for tying flies time for checking
out the waders etc. Time for finding new trout streams.
Now is the time, just ask my friend. Just ask.

Don't dig yourself into a hole that you can't get out of.

Guitar Playing fish goes through flies faster then my 6 liter chevy goes through gas.

hahahaha Whatever man

I go through flies fast because I catch so many fish. A single fly can only take so many hits

Also, I typically supply a lot of flies to my fishin' buddies. If I am catching fish on flies that friends don't have I have no problem hooking them up with what is working that day.

I actually am very interested in learning to tie. I have a vise and beads and hooks and everything I need to get started. I just have no direction. If anyone wants to teach me, I will bring a 6'er!

Mutter, your lucky to be in Calgary and have the ability to go to Bass pro or Whole sale and get a good idea of low and midrange starter kits. You also are blessed with high end fly shops where you can physically see the high end equipment. Fly tying gear is like anything else, you get low end stuff and decide you love it, you want better equipment. You learn new tying techniques and you want more tools, or vices with more features. You start tying diffrent style flies, you find you never have enough material. Sky is the limit man, you start and love it, you'll pay for it till the day you can tie no more.

Here's my old fly tying shop when I had my shingle up.

My present tying area. I'm the third generation tying at this desk.

You guys have some really fine setups there!
Serious or old time tyers I bet.

Sorry about going off the rails, I'm trying to figure out the photobucket stuff.
So please bear with me while I try to redo some pics.

Tying Room

The Captian and Big Momma, recent hackles I've been growin'

Blue wing olvies sizes 20 to 14.

Not sure but I think these were caught on a Gold Ribbed Hears Ear size 10.
In 1972 from the creek that ran through our farm. (First trout caught on a fly for me 16" brown and 12" rainbow).

Black Ghost I tied a while back..

I started out back in 7th or 8th grade wanting to learn how to tie
flys.

I got a book from a book club called McClanes Standard Fishing Encylopedia.

From there I tried using a very small vise iron vise to clamp an Exacto knife
into to hold my hook. (tying vice).
It worked, for a while.
I used mom's extended thread collection to have an assorted color and texture
of threads. (when she found out she was missing spools she was not happy).
I found wool and yarn etc. reminates that I could pintch from my mom and
sisters when they were croching or knitting etc. (they were not watching
when I snagged some.)
Feathers and fur were a problem, with the exception of small game hunting
that I used to do.

So one day I saved up the money and bought up a fly tiying kit from ..
Reed Tackle. A wet/dry fly kit.

It was well worth the money.

The only tool I make today that is not included in a kit or bought online is
the hackle plyers.

I make mine out of a wooden close pin, to this day.

Found it out on F&S years ago, still works best today.

You can make your own, custom.

Default Planno 1374

As the title states, I use a Plano 1374 case for my fly tying gear, I find it to be really handy. I got it for working out of town to kill time in the hotel room. Now I just drag it to the coffee table when I want to string something together.

Ive been tying for about 20 years. My grandfather got me a starter kit when i was 10 and I have been hooked ever since. And yes, as stated above, you never have enough materials. When I started getting more serious about tying, it seemed no matter how many trips to the fly shop I made I was always missing just one color, or one size of something. If you realize tying is something you want to stick with......here is my advise.

1.) Figure out what species you will be targeting
2.) Pick 2 or 3 patterns for each
3.) Make a list and get "ALL" materials you will need for them
4.) Make sure you tie "sets" so you have all the different sizes
5.) Spend the winter tying them so you're ready come spring

Also, you will notice that spending the extra $ on quality materials is well worth it. The fly's will almost tie themselves !!
