Default The most frustrating loads

So speaking of pressure and velocity I shot this group last night. This is the first load I have shot with these components together. Bad idea, but I know the rifle and all the components in the rifle so I thought I’d cheat. Again, a bad idea. Here is the result. Alliant says I’m about 20-30 FPS fast. There was no other indication of pressure. ES and SD are almost nill but I need to sit on this one for a while and mull it over. 20 FPS the other side of the manual and I’m grinning ear to ear.

Sometimes things just work out right off the bat!

Like winning the lottery (with insider info). What is the barrel length?

24”

I’m thinking I should knock it back a half a grain. That may mess things up.

I would shoot it again when it gets to 30 C, measure velocity and ES and if it is still grouping like that with no pressure signs, I would say thanks to the loading Gods and call her good. Might play with the seating depth a little to see if I could get them to look like one bullet hole. Got to love it when a plan comes together.

I would knock it back 1/2 gr to see how stable the load is. I like loads that don't notice 1/2 to 1 hr change in the powder charge, as they seem more stable with changing temperatures.
