Default Bull Moose WMU 202

Got my first moose draw this year in 202. Ive been out a couple times scouting and have seen a few around. I have permission on a little bit of land and am hoping to see if I can get it done in archery season the last week of September. What are your guys’ thoughts on the moose in the area? Since it’s the first time with a moose tag in my pocket, I’m not going to be picky.

Thanks

If you’re hunting moose anywhere in east-central Alberta, focus on areas of crop land interspersed with islands of willow or slough bottoms. Also aspen or poplar islands within crops.

I find this type of country much denser in moose than the non-cultivated and pasture areas. Good luck.

I had a tag for 202 probably 4 years ago, I would focus on the last week of September we seen bulls running everywhere. We ended up striking out in Bow season came back to hunt in November and they were tough to find I ended up using a priority 10 tag on a 20" meat bull. Good luck defiantly some big bulls in the area.

I Wouldn't be focused on one piece of land they will be cruising like crazy during the Rut in the Morning. Watch them cross the field then work on permission once you know what block of bush they stay in they wont move a ton in the afternoon, and its crazy what little cover they will hide in.

Thanks for the tips, how was getting permission there? I haven’t talked to many people yet besides the one place I already have permission

Not sure about that area but my favourite time to hunt moose is early October I find they react to calling more during this time

It can be tough to get permission. I used to hunt out in that area. There were some moose around but not a ton.
