Default Kevin O’Leary involved in fatal boat crash this past weekend.

Very sad, two people confirmed dead after a collision with Kevin O’Leary’s boat this past weekend.

Makes you wonder what people are doing on the water at 11:30 pm with no navigation lights.

Prayers to these families.

What a stupid way to die. And for the other boat to run, truly pathetic.

I wonder if it was alcohol or drugs, or just stupidity.

People make you sick far too often.

If O'Leary was on a boat that held 13 people I would assume its likely one of those pontoon boats? That lake does not look large enough for anything yacht-like to be prowling its waters. A ski boat going quick versus a lumbering pontoon boat is not a good match up.

O’leary’s Boat was a 24’ wake boat supposedly being driven by his wife and the people on the other boat are claiming it was O’leary’s Boat that fled the scene.

My bs meter was off the charts when I read the article, sounds like a script from a lawyer imo.

I think there will be a lot to sort out in this instance. And it will likely be like sorting fly poop from pepper with boxing gloves on.

The Muskoka’s are definitely big enough lakes for yacht type boats to cruise on.

Heck! Google the Steamship “The Seguin” she’s been traversing the muskokas for 100 years.

I’m guessing this is going to get messy for those involved.

A sketchy story by O'leary the larger boat left the scene, it was running with no lights and his wife was driving.

Could be an interesting investigation.

It does seem very odd that a smaller boat after colliding with a bigger boat would flee with two fatally wounded people.
You’d think they’d want to get help from the bigger boat less likely to critically damaged.

Odd when someone is busy telling their version of the story rather than reaching out to make sure everyone is ok. Story smells extremely fishy to me.

Thoughts go out to all involved. But I feel Oleary would do whatever he could to cover his ass. And he doesn't seems like the type who would let his wife drive. Unfortunately we will only ever hear o'leary's side of the story unless it goes to court.

O'Leary hates CBC is a conservative.....I am sure the CBC will give you nothing but honest and straight forward reporting on the issue......

Totally true.

Pick your own news source and tell us what really happened then?

Frankly, I might be the biggest conservative there is but I’m glad I don’t have to vote “Mr Wonderful” in this fall.

That’s ALMOST as bad as a Trudeau.

I saw the report on the news. The male driver of the other boat was one of the fatalities, apparently died instantly, as well as another female passenger who died later in the hospital. This is the boat that reportedly took off? Pffttt......
Yeah, throw the dead guy in the back and don’t bother treating the casualties.......we gotta get out of here.

My guess is the pontoon boat with fatalities was sleeping without nav lights on and O’Leary cranked it at full speed..

It’s not just the CBC, story is already starting to crack.

https://edmontonsun.com/news/nationa...b-41ad0a523ae3

I’m gonna say it. I think that Kevin was at the wheel, drunk, and smashed into the other boat, knew exactly how deep he was, then fled the scene.

The accident happened near Emerald Island, his boat was found docked at Rocky Crest Gold Resort. If you look on google earth you’ll see a peninsula directly west of Emerald Island, that’s where Kevin’s house is, the golf resort is about 4x further past his house from Emerald Island. He claims he went to call for help, wouldn’t it make sense to go to your own home where you know you’ll have access to a phone immediately, especially when is way closer?

I was a kid before, I did stupid things and in a panic tried to cover up, and this seems like exactly what I would have done to try and cover up the incident.

No cell phone coverage, or nobody had a phone ?

Kevin O’Leary’s house on lake Joseph has no phone and no cell service.......

Riiiiiiight.

The guy is worth $400 million, has a multi million dollar house on a lake 2 hours from down town Toronto that doesn’t have phone service? I’d be willing to bet there’s not a spot on the planet he would go without phone service.

I think the question was more wondering why a cell wasn't used.

I could be all wrong, he might have been a passanger in his brand new ski boat. I know this though, I’ve had a boat for the past 16yrs or so and my wife has yet to drive it. Not to say everyone is like us, as I’m sure there are a lot of women with their boaters license, I sure hope mrs O’Leary had hers. If he was in fact driving and chose to throw his own wife under the bus, that says all that needs to be said.

It should be clear from the damage who hit who. Are there any pictures of the boats in question?

Did you learn that from all the time you spend hanging out with him, that time he had your family over for dinner, or just from what you see on TV?

Dunno about you but I go to the lake to get away from all that... no power or running water, no cell service, no TV, no noisy neighbours. Probably a lot of people on this site are the same.

There is no question who hit who, Kevin hit the other guy. The questions are, was there any lights on the boat that got hit? Who was driving Kevin’s boat? Who fled the scene?

The larger boat headed for the launch to meet EMT's O'leary's boat got out of Dodge

Nothing suspicious there

Your multimillion dollar lakehouse there has no services?

You are worth 400,000,000+ and don't touch a phone when at the lake?

Your snotty 2nd line in your reply makes me wonder which returning bannee you are?

It'll be interesting to see if the Wife or the other passenger on O'Leary's boat change their story after some police pressure. I have my heavy suspicions but I'll wait for the police to do their work. I'm sure we'll start hear more details from the other boat as well which should also be interesting.

I will say this though. Unless O'Leary's boat had radar I don't think it should have been going cruising speed in the dark. Regardless of whether the other boat had lights on or not. What if they hit a large log or rock? Their own crew could have been killed in such an instance. Even with radar its sketchy for a small craft to cruise at night. Nothing good will come of this sadly.
