Default spotting scope

can't decide which spotting scope to get. leaning towards the vortex razor hd, but is it worth the extra 700 over the viper hd? would anyone suggest other scopes sub $2000?
oh and 20- 60

The razor is worth the money over the viper. in your price range i'd look at either the razor or the kowa. if you would find a used swaro or leica that would be ideal but those deals are hard to find

I had a viper. It was a pos. I took it back and bought a 20-60x85 razor. Much much better. Makes spotting shots at 1100 yards a lot easier.

If you are shopping in Edmonton I would recommend the Wildbird General Store. They are fantastic to deal with and they are priced well. After looking all over we have bought 5 of our last 6 purchases from there. The one exception was binoculars we got out of Cabelas bargain cave for half price.

I looked through quite a few spotting scopes, and I chose Kowa over Swarovski, Zeiss and Leica.

You might want to consider the following:
http://ca.skywatcher.com/product/pro...900edtr154-11/

I just purchased the lower priced 80mm Olivon from All-Star Telescopes in Didsbury thru the very highly renowned Skywatcher importer located in Vancouver. Mine compares favorably with the cheaper Vortex Diamondback 80mm..... Compared them side by side recently at a local long distance firing range at 60 power and cannot see any difference whatsoever.... note: 60 power is pushing the limit on both.

The one above contains florite glass as well.
