Its all good
Not sure why all the bs going on on this thread, but when we get another sporting goods store or 4 it wont hurt the consumer. Windermere and Saskatoon are first. two more the year after, I dont know where. Stores will not be tourist attractions, just scaled down versions of the southern stores. We sportsman win. Cant wait. End of story. I think the complaining should stick to the WSS thread lol.

We just got back from a weekend trip to Billings looking at horse trailers. Somehow the truck magicly found it's way to Cabela's parking lot. I'm here to say we spent more in BPS on the way home than we did in Cabela's. Of the 5 things we wanted to look at and bring home from the US store, 1 was out of stock and the other 4 weren't carried in that store. My first and possibly last trip to Cabela's was dissapointing to say the least.
Just saying that because a place has one name or another, doesn't mean they all fall under the same description of that particular name. I guess I'll continue doing what I've always done. Shop locally for the things I need right away, stop at Wholesale or Bass Pro if I'm going by and need something, or get on the computer and order online.
Would it be better to spend 5 minutes in a store and 5 hours outside looking at the real thing, or 5 hours in a store looking at taxidermy??

Opening Soon.
Hey Everyone,
Just thought I would update this thread.
I was shopping today in Windermere Common, at the new Canuck Rim and managed to get drug to Walnutz by the other half, while inside I ran into a good buddy of mine who was grabbing lunch at Timmy Ho's. We chatted, and he mentioned that he was doing interior work on the Brand New 65,000+sq ft Cabelas store that is due to open at the end of January
I might poke my head inside when it opens...
Just wanted to let you all know.

I just can't believe how big this place is going to be,
If you are near Windermere Shopping Center in South Edmonton.. Check it out......It is the building in between Walnutz and Dome Hepot!
If it opens Jan 2011, I won't be surprised they Cookie Cutter these places. Look how fast the Canadian Tire went up.
I swear they are just cooking cutting these places one Mega Store at a time... Mooooowhaahahahaha

Hey I take my buddies word for it I do... although him and his crew looked as if they might have just before Lunch.
That or all that Plaster and drywall mud, I assume thats what is was as he is a Drywaller by trade is getting to them.
If it does open January, I am sure they will start to Advertise the First week of Jan. For now all one can do is play the waiting game, that or go out Icefishing.
Found this link, says Fall of 2011. But they could be ahead of Schedule.

65,000 sq ft is not really that big. You could put 2 of them in Bass pro and still have room for more. I do think it's a great thing having more competition and selection.

Very true, 65,000 isn't very big. Been to Cabelas in Post Falls (125,000 sqft) Awesome! Also been to Cabelas in Billings, (80,000 sqft), not quite as awesome, but still great. Cabela's has great gear. I would have thought the Edmonton store would have been at least 80,000 sgft, preferably 120,000 sgft.

Cabelas put a new sign in Windermere draped over a Sea-Can just south of Home Depot. It says "Opening Summer 2011" but does not give a specific month. I hope it is better than Wholesale. I buy everything online because Wholesale is always....always out of stock in their archery department.
