I don't have anything smaller than a .243, but if larger calibers are allowed in I could throw away some money.

Sounds like we should allow all centerfires as to not limit participation. Just no 6BR nor PPC. What do you think Lee?

I am in forsure. The 243ai was working just fine at 400yrds yesterday at -26 off the sticks.
What are we setting for rules? Shooting sticks, Bi Pods , Pack rests ?
It would be fun to get pics of where guys are shooting too. Yesterday we were throwing across a ravine that was probably 150yrds deep and 700yrds across.
Either way IM IN

Just speaking out loud but maybe.....if a guy doesn't have a caliber in the range for centerfire (likely most do...) then he just has to pony up an extra 10 bucks to the junior prize? It won't break the bank and it is all in the name of fun anyhow.....? Extend the caliber range to include 6mm's but no specific "benchrest" rifles allowed (you know who you are )?......honor system would apply.

A tax on not enough guns?!? Bloody liberals want to tax everything!
For the humour impaired: that was a joke.

Our range (radium) only goes to 250m. But if I go be nice to John up at the Golden range I can get farther distance.

sounds like some early interest. it would be a little more paperwork, but maybe run 3 classes if you want to include rimfires, and adopt the rules from the clive mohn shoot at rosebud in regard to the centerfires.
for varmint, 12lb weight limit, max 20x scope, .224 cal. and smaller, no 'br or ppc' cartridges.
hunter class, 10lb. limit, 9x scope, no heavy barrels, legal alberta hunting caliber, no 'br or ppc' cartridges.
not sure about rimfire, discussion?
or just run a varmint match, and whoever can play is free to do so, lee

Im In!
Just My thoughts On a little game. Have a varmint type target out there between maybe 200-300 yards, its coyote season after all! Have a time limit to get 1 shot off ( start from standing load a round and shoot from a supported sit like off shooting sticks in 10 seconds?)and the person closest to the center wins. Or do three separate timed shots and whoever has the best of three?
Was just thinking off a game that would simulate real world hunting type situations. Whatever it is im in although I also don't have a 22 centerfire at the moment

Although that sounds like a lot of fun hardy, you have to keep in mind that with the format of a postal match, it has to be kept rather simple. Such as being able to designate a small paper target that can be printed out on 8.5 x 11 and be mailed in for scoring. I like Lee's idea also. But, being that it's Christmas, I have other plans for a couple of days. Have a Merry Christmas everyone.

What I meant by a varmint type target would be a coyote or gopher silhouette with scroring rings overlapping it. Still on a regular size letter head Maybe something like this? Anyway Merry Christmas to all as well!

Hi there i was talking to gitrdun and he regretfully will not be able to run the match. I am working with him to get some pointers and will try my best at getting a postal match up and running within the next two weeks! I will post the rules and format of shooting that will take place, as well as cost and time lines.
Thanks
Hardy

Yes, I decided to opt out of organizing for personal reasons, my most sincere apologies to all that looked forward to it. However, hardy has graciously offered to take on the task, we spoke at lenght last saturday morning, very nice and capable fellow for sure. I will be giving him all the necessary support and will likely participate myself if the timeline fits my schedule.
