Default Stocked Turkey hunting????

I've seen a few deals in Sask that offer hunting for stocked Turkeys on fencd areas. Some offer big hybrid type birds with a good deal of meat on them. Anything like that going on in Alberta?

I have heard some information that hunt ranch type things for stocked game isn't allowed in Alberts, though that could be completely wrong.

There is a Turkey Hunting Ranch near Fort Vermilion Alberta, way up North. They have Merriam Turkeys and cabins to stay in ect. I haven't hunted with them but they do quite a bit of hunts up here. David at 780-841-5258 or Bob at 780-821-0530.

Default turkey facts

A large group of us used to go on an annual goose hunt before we all had kids. One year one of the guys bought a turkey from one of the guys who set up shoots for us. His plan was for us to stand in a circle around the bird while he got ready and then we would open up the circle so he and the turkey could walk out and he would shoot it so he could have it for Thanksgiving.

The problem with his plan was he didn't tell any us what he was going to do. Most of us didn't even have our guns as we had finished the morning shoot and were standing around talking and having a few beers. The farmer put the turkey down on the ground from the crate and said are you sure, my buddy said yup that's good right there.

As soon as he let go of the turkey it took off flying, my buddy didn't even have shells in his gun. I walked over to him and said that has got to be a half mile from here and he is still flying. My buddy looked at me and said I didn't think turkeys could fly. I told him domestic turkeys can't fly, wild turkeys can. It cost my buddy $50 to watch that bird fly across the section and all of us to howl after he explained his plan us.

Good luck with your hunt but remember they can fly so be ready.

Ah bit of a comedian I see

I can't hunt wild game until I get my residency. I come from Europe where bowhunting is pretty much illegal every where, so I have to make do right now.

that is a heck of an offer! not that mine wasn't

it's always more rewarding to hunt something not in a fence

It is indeed, though I'm from a place where hunting with a bow can land you in a prison cell. I don't have 4-5k to spend on paying an outfitter to hunt wild game either.

Congratulations on being able to hunt wild game with a bow!

Are you hunting public or private lands in Montana? I've been looking into going down as well.

I hunt both public and private. They are a great time. Even better than easterns in indiana ohio and kentucky. In my opinion. Hunted rios in texas which are a blast but the merriams are a nicer looking bird. Here is a few from montana.

LMFAO. I have never laughed so hard at a post ever. My wife was wondering what's wrong with me.
That may be one of the dumbest hubting plans I ever heard. Thanks for sharing. Priceless!

May sound crazy, but I just want to rack up more bow kills. I come from a pace where even hunting a mouse with a bow is illegal.

Nice photo's though, Britt!
