Sorry NAIT, it IS worth the grief.
I have just as much right to be there as anyone else. It's this couple that is in the wrong, by not having control over their dogs.
Not going to be bullied to have to avoid these people.

Isn't that kinda like saying,
Drive somewhere other than Higway 63 to get to ft.mac where it is somewhere safer?
Although i really don't agree with posting the pic of the dude on here like it was, i am still against the idea of letting some bad dude have reign over an area because he bully's with his unruly beasts.

I thought they made dog spray for situation like this. Get aggressive or too close to my dog and you give em a whiff. Reasonable response and pretty hard to argue with.

I think the walking stick is a great idea. Whenever I'm walking our two little bear chokers I'm always preparing mentally to lay a kicking on the MANY off leash dogs in our community, thankfully haven't needed to. The squirts are part of the family, and attack them, your attacking me. I hope your able to deal with your issue, and I support your right to do so. I do however also support those who would choose not to confront, and don't want the grief. No shame in that.

Rather than bear spray, a small powder fire extinguisher makes mush of them. The dog(s) will run like he/they just found a new set of legs, never to be near you or your animals again. It only takes a 2 1/2 lb to keep the peace!!!

Nice lab.
My dogs protect me and mine. I return the favour, with gusto.

I agree with you Diver, these irresponsible dog owners are the ones who are at fault; for the behaviour of their animals, and their disregard for bylaws.
It may be difficult to restrain your pooch when another dog is attacking it. Remember the guy who kicked the retriever, and the dog died? That could happen to you...
Instead of walking your dog, looking to pick a fight, save yourself the stress and walk your pooch somewhere else. Karma will take care of the loser.
...or walk your dog looking for the guy, and when his dog attacks: remember: it's your word against his, and if his wife is there - it's two words against one.
Besides, you never who know who he is, what he is into or what he is willing to do to prove his point. Food for thought!

Noting their licence plate and filing a complaint is the way to go. If others have a problem the police will have a record and pay them a visit. A $1000 fine would probably smarten them up, if they bite people the dog would probably be put down. Kinda sad because it's the owners not the dogs. Out of control dogs = out of control owners. Avoid them like the plague and if their dog attacks send bylaw after them. Dealing with them yourself is just not good for your health and blood pressure.

I had the same issue, some moron would let his dogs run free in the neighborhood, they cornered a girl one day and were very aggressive. Then a week later they came out of the bush and attacked my dog. I smashed one with a stick and bear sprayed them both.
never saw them again
My dog is like family, if you attack my dog then expect the same in return

I would still make the report and provided the investigators with your pics.

I charged (yes charged as in ran right at her, shouting various profanities and brandishing my favorite fencepost ) a cow that decided she didn't like my old dog wandering around in the corral when we were sorting cows two years ago. As others have said, my dogs are part of my family and will be protected. We would charge Hell with a bucket of water for each other.
