Default Drilling rifles

Been diligentlly working on getting a load worked up for the rifle barrel in my 16x16/9.3x72R and finally got it to where I am comfortable shooting it offhand at 100.
I know Oldgutpile and my son have drillings and hunt with them occasionally, anybody else here use one?
I am planning on using mine as my main gun next fall.
It's a German guild gun , nothing special but it is very well built with excellent fitting parts.

My 12x12x7x57R was made in about 1985. I was amazed that the rifle barrel was so accurate. it would consistently put 3 rounds into 2-2.5" at 300 yards and shot well under an inch at 100. The Kreighof 22Rf insert will shoot under an inch at 50 yards an can be tuned to hit dead on the crosshairs with the scope set for the rifle barrel. With the claw mounts the scope goes off and on very easily so good for using the shotgun and it has pop up sights if you need to use the rifle barrel while bird hunting. Even with the open sights I could hold under 2"s at 100.

They are a really versatile piece of gear and a great option for folks with limited space.

Very nice cartridge Dean!
I almost bought a Krigoff drilling g several years ago from Gunnar when he owned Armco, but for some reason didn't . I think it was in the same configuration

Mine is a very light gun and perfect for tramping after Sharptails and other upland birds with the chance of a deer as well

There is one on CGN as we speak for a decent price.
12x12 and either 7x57 or 8x57 IIRC
I believe it is also a box lock which some prefer to hammers
OOPS! I just checked and the good news is it is 9.3X74R - the bad news is that the add is no longer up!

Popular in Europe due to variety of game that you could hunt. You hunted Hare (mostly group hunting) and Wild Boar would show up or Red Stag. For Wild Boar you could use a smooth bore and a Brenneka type shell. But for Stag only rifled barrel bigger or minimum 7mm IIRC.
