plywood silhouettes painted black and white, or chloroplast painted will work too but not last as long

Depending on how many dozen you are making I would go with chloroplast, much easier to cut and very light. For patterns I would make all of them feeders except for a few sentries.

Stiff wire. Go to Value Village and get some coat hangers and cut. Have a look at sillosocks and you will get the idea what you need.

You mean silos? You wouldn't need to much artistic ability to just draw one on cardboard, cut it out and use that. There are a few companies that sell the H wires, just google lawn signs or election signs

I Used the internet for my pattern, then enlarged it, then hand drew it a bit larger on the plywood. Easy peasy.

I've made dozens and dozens out of Chloroplast.
Sorry I haven't worked out per dozen.

Snows were simple.

Canadas more work. More money because of paint.

I purchased 4x8 sheets of white. 20 bucks per sheet. Got 18 per sheet. Various poses. Added the stakes in forms of wire sign type, to just tiny rod. Cut chloroplast with a jig saw several stacked together. Then smooth edge on the grinder.

Added just heads to silo sox or sky flys for more realism in movement. The bunch look awesome.

Hammered the shat out geese last season over them. Limits for four guys three days in a row. Then had to head home dag nabbit.

PM if ya want more info.

For wires...you could go to any store that sells welding electrodes. Get a tube of 5/32" TIG wire. fairly cheap and probly 40 3 foot sticks per box...maybe more.

sonotubes cut to length and then cut in half and painted work well too. A bit more work than the chloroplast but it makes more of a 3d look. You need to cutout plywood shapes for the heads but its not that hard. I'll try and post some pics tonight.
