Default Help me find my family's old M-17 enfield!

After years of hearing stories of my grandfather hunting BC bears in Quesnel with his old 30-06 I've finally found some useful information to hopefully track it down. Going through some of his old paperwork from the early 90's we found a list of his firearms and the serial numbers! It's a P17 in 30-06, Winchester made in Nov 1918, serial number 469425. Should have 3 file marks on the bottom of the trigger guard. Pretty sure it's sporterised. He went a little senile in his later years and sold a bunch of his stuff for next to nothing and this rifle was one of those things. It would have been sold in the early to mid 90's in the area of Lumby/Vernon BC

I know it's a crazy long shot to find this thing, could well have been turned in and destroyed many years ago! If you have a rifle matching this description please check your serial number for a match!

Thank you.

Thats what got left to me as well a P17. But Remington. I will give it to my son when I pass, That will be 4 generations with that rifle.

They ain't worth much but I can understand the settlement. Best wishes my man.

My grandpa had a old Colt revolver that disappeared. Somebody got it somewhere. Wish I had that.

Just a tip, if you are searching out internet sites , dealer inventories etc. you may want to ask about an M-17 Enfield, not a P-17. There is no such thing as a P-17 Enfield. There is a P-14 however which is chambered in 303 British. The 30-06 chambered Enfields are M-17's.

It's a long shot but I hope you can find it.

No doubt the Quebec long gun registry knows where it is.
