Default Laminate counter options ?

The laminate in our kitchen is wearing down. If we replace it with some snazzy quartz/granite top we will be in for a major reno because we have stone tile and glass blocks that come down and are grouted to the countertop.

Online there seems to be an epoxy product that can go over prepped laminate but I cannot find enough info with pictures to make a decision on this option.

Anyone try this epoxy countertop and are you happy with it?

Thanks, Dodger.

You might find some good options at hard rock developments.
They sell, or used to sell lots of products like you’re describing

No don't do it,I tried on my outdoor kitchen.Looked fake.Easier to just get new laminate.Old stuff comes of easy if its water based glue, just spray a lifted edge with lacquer thinner or varsol and it lifts off.Alternatively new can go over top after some 80 grit sanding.

Or use a heat gun/iron to heat up the glue and pry/scrap it off

We were in the same position as you a few months ago. We didn’t want to do a major reno and hated the existing countertop. Ended up going with Calgary countertops and had them refinish them. Not the same as epoxy but sort of the same sort of process. We are very happy with the finished product and they were great to deal with. Google them and see for yourself.

If you find a good installer they can install a granite counter top that will match exactly to the tile you have. It is a quite simple process for a company that knows what they are doing.

They either trim the new top to the right height and polish or trim the existing backsplash to accommodate the new counter top. We have done it both ways. Looks great when done.

Thinking of doing our kitchen. So we did a bathroom vanity, turned out great. Stone coat epoxy. What happened a few utube videos and you should be fine.

Thanks for this. The website is being updated but I researched some reviews and this looks like a very reasonable option.
