Default What is an antlerless deer

IS ANTLERLESS DEER FEMALE ONLY?
OR IT ALSO MEANS MALE DEER WITH an antler NOT exceeding 10.2 cm (4 in.) in length?

By reading your comments it seems to me you really need to start reading some regulations. You are applying for draws without understanding the regs and asking on here which is fine but you are not doing anything to figure it out yourself.
Did you take a hunter Ed course?

The animal is classified solely on whether or not it has an antler longer than 4", so age and sex of the animal don't matter. This is why the correct terminology should be used rather than incorrect terminology such as "buck" or "doe" tag.

And yet evidence of sex dangles between their hind legs.

But does the sex of the animal determine whether the deer is "antlerless" , or "antlered"?

Absolutely not. Which is why I find it silly that you tag the crotch.

I agree it is annoying to tag the leg when the head status determines the tag used.

Very simple for general whitetail tags

Anterless supplimental deer tag = any whitetail deer without or with antlers under 4 inch, male or female (commonly know as doe tag)

Whitetail deer tag = any whitetail deer male or female (commonly know as buck tag)

Although you can shoot a doe on a 'buck tag' it's a waste of money because a 'doe tag' is less then half the price

A perfect example of why its important to read the regs and not follow message boards for legal advice.....

Ignore this post and go to the regs for anyone who doesn't understand.

Learned this years ago as I had to use my buck tag on a doe with antlers. One was 4 1/2 inches long.

I think these answers need to be asked in hunters ed before being able to purchase or apply for draws and tags

Good advice, but that takes a bit of time and some effort. And that is why so many p0eople don't understand the regulations, the draw system, or our firearms laws.

Going into my first season this year, I remember wondering this myself when reading the regulations last winter. I think the OP had it figured out, just wanted to confirm his interpretation.
