Default Crown Land Near Med Hat

Just moved to Medicine Hat, can anyone point me in the direction of some crown land. So I can get out and do some deer hunting? I need an area that doesn't have a draw.

There is little to no crown land near medicine hat. There is lots of grazing leases but alot of them are treated as private access. You have to call and ask permission. Last fall i got 1 yes out of about 20 lease holders i contacted.

I hunter app shows all the Lease Holders and Contact info when we hunted 102 area a few years ago permission was very easy.

I was in 118. The one lease holder who gave me permission i went in person. Another member here pointed me to his direction. As all my calls were being turned down for any november access. I was calling well in advance. My schedule allowed me 3 weeks off in november and still none of the lease holders would grant me access. Took me 5 years to pull tag. He did tell me there was an oufitter that had permission on most of the leases in the area including his but the outfitter wasnt seeing any deer. Hopefully the OP has better luck but also isnt much for general tags around medicine hat. Only archery. And whitetail buck rifle.

Have hunted 118 a ton and have almost had 98% success on access to both deeded and lease land. A ton of access that would take me years to hunt all of it effectively. Some great hunting in the area and some great bucks.

As for the OP, true 'crown land' isn't really much of a possibility around Med hat, but there is plenty of great whitetail hunting on lease land and private land that just requires a few door knocks and getting out to meet some people you can have a really good time.

Well you are an exception to the rule in 118 then....you can lump 116 and 148 in there to.
Not many have great luck with access, especially the last couple years, with how dry it was.
There are several "large" leaseholders that refuse to return calls etc.
And no its not just me....
I have had guys I know resort to phoning landman to get things resolved.
With the moisture we are getting the too dry excuse doesnt cut it anymore.
Ive hunted the Hat area for years.
To the OP
Get the IHunter app and buy the Cypress County map,40 Mile too.
There is DU land around,Hutterites dont mind hunters most of the time....
Do some driving and scouting,

Please don't assume that a tenth or two is enough moisture to really make a difference in the area surround the Hat. It's dry and we will need inches not tenths to saturate the dust.

As of September 17th, the fire ban was down graded to a fire restriction in Cypress County.

More than enough reason to continue limited access, both on grazing leases and private holdings.

Assume I did not.
