Excellent write up. Gal's got talent. If she can figure out how I can knock 50 years off my age I'll run out and buy one. Must be a thrill when you get dragged around by a fish.

I can say the reasons my wife and I are looking into kayaks for fishing is there versatility, ability to access more locations, and lower maintenance. The kayak fishing tournaments also have our attention. I have a big boat and canoe already but kayaks have had our attention for some time
I think most people will share at least part of your wife’s opinion piece for reasons people are interested in kayak fishing

Super write up. Thanks for posting this and congrats to you and your wife for finding a real passion.
I grew up spending summers holidays kayak fishing the inlets on the west coast of the island. No feeling quite like battling a chinook from a kayak. My brother at age 13 pulled in a 20lbs fish on his own, and jammed it between his thighs to paddle to shore to dispatch it. Never seen him move so fast in my life!
Now that I have a young family, the majority of our fishing is from a canoe, which is also no to be overlooked as a great means to easily access lakes.

It's a good write up and a well written piece. It covers all the points kayak fishers make when advocating their style and does it well. Your wife has some writing talent for sure.
Since you ask though, I remain unconvinced though. I grew up fishing out of a canoe and since then I've fished out of many kayaks and even bought my own. The end result for me was the sale of my kayak. Kayaks don't suit my style and I find them to be alot more hassle to to fish out of and thus less enjoyable for me.

Might want to put a deposit on certain models you choose. I ordered a couple and they won't be available till early spring

I understand what you're saying, maybe I'll see you on the water one day and you can give my yak a try

What did you order?
I know high level in Lethbridge is getting some this month so we may take a trip south to visit some of the wife’s family and check them out. She really wants to check them out in person and is hesitant on just ordering an un seen model. Been watching the used market in Alberta and BC too
I am still tempted to just place an order

That is a very well done article. I might look into a kayak when I retire hopefully next year. Contact the fishing hole and see if they will put that article on their blog.

i'm willing to try anyone's set up, even just to see how they do things differently. I often pick up useful tips even if I don't usually fish the same way.
