Default Lake Minnewanka Help

Hey there,

I am planning on going to lake Minnewanka this weekend and was wondering you guys had any tips. I am going to be renting a 14ft boat so I am not limited to the shore. I also have my Garmin Striker 4.

I was there last weekend with my kayak and had a few follows and one bite using a crankbait. I tried jigging with my fish finder but had no follows or anything.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Get a Rapala DT30 in silver/blue. Troll the shoreline in 40-60 feet.
Stop at Wapiti Sports in Canmore and get non-lead tube jigs in white and jig same areas.
Buzz bombs in pink are good.
Go into the bay just around the corner from the boat rental docks and cast the tube jigs, or a 5 of diamonds.
Even small Mepps in size 3 are working from shore in that bay (as of yesterday)

You should get some.

Thanks! This helps a lot.

How long of a tube should I get?

Also, are buzz bombs legal? I thought they were a made out of lead.

From the current Mountain National Parks in Alberta and British Columbia Fishing Regulations:

It is unlawful to:
Fish with or possess within 100 metres of park waters the following:
... - any lead tackle (sinkers, jigs, lures and flies) under 50 grams

You can buy a National Park license at Wapiti Sports in Canmore, and they'll often give good, current advice on what's working at Minnewanka.
