Default Frac Work, tell me about it.

I have a chance to hire into a Frac position in NW North dakota. I have no idea what it is or what one does. Please fill me in and how is this for decent work?

Check trucks and Pumps before going to location, drive trucks to location, hook up iron (pipe) from trucks to well head. Start pumps, moniter pumps press buttons to change rpm and gears. When finished pumping, rig gear out, check pumps again, replace parts on pumps, Drive home.

Expect to work 12-16 hrs a day, pay should be good. Are you being hired on working for a Canadian company working in the US or for a US company?

Rigging in/ out involves lifting around 50-75 lbs repeatedly for a couple hours and or swinging hammers. The work is not all that bad. The pace when rigging in and out is steady but not killing. Your working with a large crew so everyone helps out so your not breaking your back and doing all the heavy work.

I would be making sure of what they are paying you before going down there. Whos it for if you dont mind me asking?

I dont know if that is the going rate or not, but that is what the ad has posted. Full bennies do add to the total. I ive on the ND/MN border. Theres no shortage of guys looking for work down here so Im sure the wage is alittle soft.

its not an hourly job here. guaranteed salary plus bonus is the norm....and it works out to 30-40 an hour most days....sometimes as high as 50 or more.....for entry level guys i mean.

$15 or so an hour sounds right for down there.
Good luck with your new job. Make sure that you wear PPE while working with any fluids and sand.

yup....but not anymore. well not for newbies anyway. work your way up and it might be possible today, but it would be tough. wages for most oil jobs have been scaled back over the last few years.
